Core Values: Courage | Pride | Integrity
The Ault–Pierce Fire Department traces its roots back to 1904, when it was first organized by the citizens of Ault as the Ault Fire Department. In 1945, it evolved into the Ault Rural Volunteer Fire Department. Recognizing the need to better serve neighboring communities, the Ault–Pierce Fire Protection District was formally established in the fall of 1959 to provide fire protection services to the towns of Ault and Pierce, as well as the surrounding rural areas.
The department was originally housed in the old Ault Town Hall until 1963, when a new fire station was constructed. To further support the growing district, an additional fire station was built in the town of Pierce in 1973. In July 2007, the department transitioned into its current fire stations, which continue to serve our communities today.
In 2016, the Ault–Pierce Fire Department became a combination department, introducing part-time, paid staffing during daytime hours. By 2017, the department expanded to provide 24/7 coverage. Today, the department staffs two to three firefighters on duty at all times, with the Fire Chief, a paid Captain, and an Administrative Assistant working during daytime hours. A command staff member is always on call to ensure operational readiness.
Currently, the Ault–Pierce Fire Department serves a population of approximately 4,800 residents across 81 square miles in northern Weld County. Our call volume continues to increase each year, reflecting both community growth and our commitment to providing dependable, professional emergency services.
