Ballot Measures
Ault-Pierce Fire is proposing 2 Ballot Measures On November’s Ballot
Mill Levy Extension
In 2005, $ 149,000 was allocated annually to pay off a voter-approved bond to build both fire stations. If the mill levy extension passes, the $149,000 annually will be used for the district’s general fund instead of expiring when the bond is paid in 2027. This extension will not raise the current tax rates. Without the extension, property taxes will see a slight reduction of .034 mills
2.0 Mil Levy Increase
The Ault-Pierce Fire District is proposing an increase in the mill levy from 7.318 to 9.318. This adjustment will enable us to collect additional tax revenue, which is essential for supporting the crucial growth and development of our district This is a tax increase that would result in additional cost to the homeowner, as estimated on the next page.

The Ault-Pierce Fire Department has a storied history, having been established in 1904. In 2005, the community showed its support by approving a bond that enabled the district to build new fire stations. This investment significantly enhanced the department’s infrastructure.
A major milestone was reached in 2016 when the Ault-Pierce Fire Department transitioned to a combination fire district. This change means that the department now operates with both volunteers and paid staff, providing 24-hour coverage to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

Why Are We Requesting an Increase?
- Enhanced Emergency Response: The additional funds will be used to hire and retain experienced, qualified firefighters and EMT’s, reducing response times and ensuring that help arrives swiftly when emergencies strike.
- Upgraded Equipment and Training: The increased funding will be used to purchase state-of-the-art equipment and advanced training programs. This means our first responders will be better prepared and equipped to handle a wide range of emergencies, from fires to medical crises.
- Updated Facilities: The funds generated by the levy will be used to updates and renovations to our fire stations. Modern, well-maintained facilities are essential for efficient operations and ensuring the safety and well-being of our firefighters.
- Improved Community Services: The levy will support community outreach programs, fire prevention education, and safety inspections. Such programs prevent emergencies and keep our community informed and safe
- Economic Benefits: While the increase will result in a small increase in property taxes, a well-funded fire department can lower insurance premiums for homeowners and businesses, as insurers recognize the reduced risk in a community with robust emergency services. This can lead to significant savings for everyone.
